Engaging storytellers from Museum Helsingør will take you on a guided tour through the historic city of Helsingør. You will meet a person dressed in historical dresswear, which gives you an insight into the past. The city of Helsingør is shaped by the wealth and prosperity brought to it by the sound toll (anno 1429-1857), and the guided tour gives you an insight into this period of history. You will learn about both the city itself, but also the people, who populated the town and their many stories, which took place in the streets of Helsingør, that even today look similar to what they did back then. The group will be divided into smaller groups of around 30 people, and the tour will last approximately one hour, highlighting the best sights of this historic city.

After exploring the historic old town of Helsingør, lunch will be served in a charming and atmospheric setting at Kronborg Castle. The meal includes a main course, two different salads, and bread, accompanied by one glass of wine, beer, or water. Additional beverages will be available for purchase.

If you have any special dietary requirements, such as vegan, halal, or kosher meals, please inform us when registering.

Kronborg Castle is one of the most famous Renaissance castles in Northern Europe, located at the narrowest point of the Øresund Strait in Helsingør, Denmark. Best known as the setting for Shakespeare’s Hamlet, the castle is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, celebrated for its rich history and stunning architecture. Visitors can admire grand halls, royal chambers, and the eerie casemates beneath the castle, all while enjoying beautiful views across the sea.

After lunch, one of the castle’s knowledgeable guides will lead a tour focused on food and drink in the Renaissance era. The group will again be divided into smaller groups of about 30 people.

Following the guided tour, you will have free time to further explore Kronborg Castle or enjoy more of what Helsingør has to offer on your own.

Note

Please remember to dress appropriately for the weather. Somehow, it always seems to be windy in Helsingør — and especially in October! In case the weather turns out to be too rough for the city walk, don’t worry: we can easily adapt.
